art-official.org is built and maintained by Bernard Bolter — an artist and programmer. The protocol documented here grew out of a real, thirty-year practice, not a hypothetical one: bernardbolter.com is the first archive built on it, and the evidence page describes what came out of that.

This site makes no case for itself beyond what’s written on it. Credibility rests on the work — the schema, the reference implementation, the honestly-recorded gaps — not on a biography.
